Mass Effect 2: Lair of the Shadow Broker Review

The Lair of the Shadowbroker is the newest DLC for Mass Effect 2. Picking up where the end of the game left off, the story focus' on Liara and her persuit of the mysterious Shadowbroker. Players can accompany Liara on a epic new mission to discover who the Shadowbroker is, and what he wanted with Commander Shepherd.



The gameplay is the same as Mass Effect 2, which is no complaint by me. Its more combat focused that many missions in Mass Effect 2, and has you fighting quite a bit of enemies. Liara joins your sqad for the mission too, giving you access to a new character.

The story is the main focus in Lair of the Shadowbroker. Its engaging and exciting. Players will be familliar with the sense of scale and adventure that the series is known for. It also has one of the coolest locations in the series so far.

Players will get the chance to reconnect with Liara, and if you had a romance with her in the first game, a chance to explore that further. Additonally, events that take place in Lair of the Shadowbroker will carry over to affect the story of Mass Effect 3, so its definately worth exploring if you plan on continuing the series.

Overall, it took me a little over 3 hours to complete The Lair of the Shadowbroker. For only $10, it was definately worth the price of admission. The story is fantastic and its worth seeing through to the end for its epic conclusion. And the fact that not only do you get to learn more about a character from the first game, but the events carry over and will be important to Mass Effect 3 definately make this add-on a must buy.
